Wiscon Schedule

The Wiscon programming schedule is up and already I can tell it's going to be difficult to decide what to go to! Even just starting with the first panel block, I'm spoiled for choice. Argh!
Here's where I'll be for sure:
How Did All the Thin White People Take Over Space?
Friday, 10:30-11:45pm
Fat bodies, bodies with disabilities, bodies with different genders and different gender presentations… Where are all the fat, black, butch Starfleet officers? The image we are given of space–faring races is that of the "perfected" race, as if there truly were one ideal—as if bodies are chosen. This panel will explore bodies in science fiction—is Geordi LaForge really the best we've got?
Broad Universe Rapid-Fire Reading
Sunday, 4-5:15pm
Members of Broad Universe share tidbits of their available work or works in progress with the audience. Enjoy a buffet covering a wide range of speculative fiction from disturbing horror to humor, paranormal romance to dystopian action/adventure, poetry to prose... and all the realms in between.
Including Disabled Characters in Your Work(s)
Monday, 10-11:15am
How to include disabled people in your works—and how not to. For example: don't kill them, use them as decor, de–humanize them, or cure them. What are some good examples of authors who include characters with disabilities in their works?
---
I'm glad not to be moderating this year. I do find that adds an extra level of stress. Now to find something to read at the RFR that's approximately 5 minutes long...
