I wish we knew which order the writers were going to be at Clarion. Is it the order they're listed on the site? Maybe. It would help me prioritize my reading if I knew for sure.

The writers are: Gregory Frost, Jeff VanderMeer, Karen Joy Fowler, Cory Doctorow, Ellen Kushner, and Delia Sherman.

I'm most read up on Doctorow, Kushner, and Sherman. I'm trying to get up to speed on everyone. There should be an anthology with short stories from all of them!

I'm reading what I can from the library and from what I already have on hand. I may stop at a bookstore to pick up a few more, but I don't want to be lugging a bunch of books to California. So my plan is to buy most of them there, and then perhaps ship them back here. Especially if I've somehow acquired waaaaay too many books. Which is not outside the realm of possibility.

So far the one book I'm pretty sure I'm bringing to California is The Complete Idiot's Guide to Publishing Science Fiction. Not so much because Cory Doctorow co-wrote it (though that helps!), as because it's a good reference.

I did a little research a while back and checked the websites of all the instructors to see if I could figure out when they would be at Clarion. My research seemed to confirm that the order listed on the Clarion website is in fact the order in which they will be in residence.

Ellen Kushner and Delia Sherman will be teaching together for the last two weeks.

I wondered if they might be joint-teaching. It seemed logical they'd at least both be there at the same time. The more I read about and of all the writers, the more excited I get.
