[livejournal.com profile] sophy has been posting news and links about the protests in Wisconsin. What's awesome to me is that when I see pictures of people in the capitol building, I can say.. I was there! I've been in there! I even have pictures somewhere or other. So when I read about the protests, I can do a good job picturing it in my head.

And [livejournal.com profile] sophy's latest post mentions Ian's Pizza and I know exactly what that is! I've been in there, I've bought pizza, I even have one of those cards you get punched for a free slice. How many Wiscons will it take for me to get my free slice? :)

Ian's is getting so many calls from people all over the world wanting to donate pizza to the protestors that that's the only business they're doing right now. And their pizza is really good and different. I'm sure I've posted about it before. Things like ziti pizza or mac and cheese. I bet there's a protest pizza on the menu by the time I go there in May. Their salads are pretty good too.

And just as a data point, for people who think public sector jobs pay more than private, I am making about 4K less now than I did before I got a master's degree. And that's in a library with a union. If I want to make libraries a career, I'll need to find a university or a private company that needs me.

It's a wonder to me that anyone becomes a teacher, and yet we need them so much you can't even begin to list why. So you totally need to stop crapping on them, guys. :P
