Well, I'll tell you that our system has a spot for it (just male or female) and while we don't ask for people to fill it out themselves, we're supposed to mark it down when we set them up.
Why? Because we had some people with ambiguous names who may or may not have been using cards that belonged to them. So it was decided that if we had a 'Jamie' in the system and it was a girl then we should write it down so we knew to ask a question if a guy had the card. Mostly the problem was families with lots of kids and then people denying they had ever taken out certain things. And husbands who for some stupid reason think they can just use their wife's card all the time. Dude. It's free. Get your own.
