I'm not giving exact directions, because I don't want to invite stalkers. But here's what the rooms are like.

I'm in an apartment with 4 other girls/chicks/women/people of the sometimes feminine persuasion. It's on the second floor, as I believe all the apartments are. So there's a flight of stairs to climb with luggage. Once inside, the place is quite spacious. There's a large common room and kitchen with island. There's one bedroom downstairs and a full bathroom (shower, no bath). Then upstairs (more stairs!) there's four more bedrooms, two sinks out in the open with a mirror, and a separate shower room that locks and a separate toilet room that locks. So four people can get ready at a time, if only two want showers.

The apartments look nice. I think someone said they were only a couple years old. Just don't look at the carpet.

The rooms have a bed, drawers underneath. A desk with drawers and a pullout keyboard drawer, should anyone have actually brought a desktop and not a laptop. A chair. A good-sized closet. Plenty of plugs. One decent light on the wall. They also all lock.

I arrived early and found my room had a broken chair. Hope to have a new one tomorrow. I discovered there was no air conditioning! I arrived on a hot(ish) day in the hottest part of the day, and was lugging luggage around by myself, so the AC seemed like a big problem. Today it's been pretty cool. I wore jeans all day without feeling hot. I'm from the Northeast, so I was and still am worried about being hot. Not worried about being cold.

So you can imagine my distress when I discovered that my radiator was generating heat! And it was set on 0. No amount of fiddling with the knob seemed to fix it. I have also been promised this will be fixed on Monday. It hasn't actually been too bad with the window open most of the time, but sometimes it's noisy (There's a ResNet Symposium going on currently). I bought a fan yesterday, and that's helped too. I even made use of the blanket!

They provide sheets, blanket, pillow, towels, bar soap, and a cup. Like in a basic hotel room. They provide fresh towels daily and fresh sheets, etc, weekly.

Let's see, what else can I tell you... oh, we have wireless. I had a bit of a problem getting it set up, but I called K and she helped me out. I still had my DNS servers in there instead of telling it to automatically grab them. So Clarion 2008 people, if you have trouble connecting, check that.

Our classroom is up a little hill, but not too far away. The library is a lot further away and I haven't been there yet. The dining hall is down the other end and across a bridge, but it's not too far. The laundry room is about halfway there, with some vending machines.

Next entry, food!
