Clarion 2008 Instructor Lineup

The list of instructors for Clarion 2008 (in San Diego) is up on the Clarion website.

They are:

Kelly Link
James Patrick Kelly
Mary Anne Mohanraj
Neil Gaiman
Nalo Hopkinson
Geoff Ryman

Is that an awesome lineup or what?

I expect competition for spots will be at least as fierce as it was for our class, but don't let that stop you from applying! You'll never know unless you try.

Find out more about the instructors here. Find out more details about housing and costs, etc, here.

2008's class is going to be housed, dined, and instructed in different buildings on campus than where we were, so you all will get some Firsts of your own. :)

Applying is all fine and dandy, but I have to work. It's not just money; it's having that many weeks off of work.

A lot of people seemed to be in the midst of transition. Clarion fit into their lives as they were in the process of changing jobs, or changing careers, or moving.

You never really know at your job if they'll let you have 6 weeks off unpaid unless you ask. Some might not give you any guarantee your job will be waiting when you come back, but if you're trained, you're going to be top of their list when a position comes open again.

Did you get any details on why they will be housed, dined and instructed in a different building/s?

Also, was it just me or is the members only part of the Clarion site being contrary this weekend?

From the way I understand it, we were supposed to have our workshop sessions in a Literature department building, but it turned out to be too far away from where we were being housed. I know construction played into it somehow.

So I assume this Warren College is closer to the literature building.

UCSD is huuuge. I never did see it all, nor even step foot in the library.

So, are they going to have to walk all the way across campus for Cafe Ventanas? They don't seem to want to indicate that. :-)

There was a different cafeteria listed on the website. Cafe Ventanas will always live in our memories. :)
