Open Question Wednesday #6

I haven't completely forgotten about open question Wednesdays! Just, mostly forgot. And kept remembering on non-Wednesdays. Note that you don't have to answer this on Wednesday, obviously. :)

What's one of your favorite books about writing?

I'm rather fond of The Pocket Muse (http://www.amazon.com/Pocket-Muse-Ideas-Inspirations-Writing/dp/1582971420) by Monica Wood. It's not so much about the mechanics, but rather about just throwing out ideas. Pictures, word lists, scene starters...I adore it.

I've never read one. :)

How about a fiction book about a writer then?

"Techniques of the Selling Writer" by Dwight V. Swain. He breaks down the elements of a story into concrete bits almost the same way I learned to break down sentences into its concrete bits in the seventh grade. When you know something isn't working in the story, you can use these techniques to figure out how to fix it.
