We interrupt your irregularly scheduled Wiscon posts to ask about Readercon. Anyone going? Anyone have an opinion as to whether I should go? It's darned local, so it seems silly not to go. But do I go for one day? Two? The whole thing? Is it too late to get a hotel room? What's the best way to get down there?

So.. help me decide, people. :)

I'm going because it's relatively local for me, too. It's very focused on reading and writing. That is, one wouldn't find The Gathering or costumes and so on. I don't want to say it's boring because I always get a *lot* out of Readercon. It's just -- how can I say this without insulting a con I really like -- it's just more serious maybe?

They have a free night on Thursday night, open to people who haven't even registered. A lot of people arrive Friday afternoon.

You ask how to get there. Where are you coming from? The hotel, in Burlington, MA, is off Route 128.

I don't drive. So the easiest way is also a stupid way. Take a bus down to Boston (driving right through Burlington) to South Station. Take the subway to Alewife, take the bus to the hotel. It's doable, and a reasonable cost, but it's ridiculously convoluted and time-consuming. It'd be easier if there was a hotel shuttle from Logan, as the first bus also goes to Logan.
