Open Question Wednesday #3

I've been on a nonfiction reading binge this last year or so. This is in contrast to the previous 15 years where I read almost exclusively science fiction and fantasy, with the occasional book on writing.

I've noticed that a lot of nonfiction books include quotes, particularly at the start of chapters. Here's a recent one I particularly enjoyed:

"If you really want to hurt your parents and you don't have nerve enough to be homosexual, the least you can do is go into the arts."
--Kurt Vonnegut

So the question for today is, what's your favorite science fiction, fantasy, or writing-related quote?

My favorite is

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
-- Arthur C. Clarke

That's one of my favorites too.

I wonder how far back in time you'd have to take an mp3 player or a cell phone before you get people genuinely thinking it was magic rather than technology they'd never seen before.

(Not that the cell phone would work... as a phone.)
